One of the things Sandra Dartnell does is make postage stamp pictures. She calls them Stampedes. She sources and hand positions the stamps to create 'portraits' which tell life stories. She also frames single stamps which she feels are just great designs. She does it for herself, for her family and to commission. She loves the graphics and the search to find the right stamp. It all started with a picture to talk about with her daughter. Actually it all started with an A4 envelope…
Watch her 6 minute Pecha Kucha story, Stampedes presented at Pecha Kucha Bedford, Vol 1.
Pecha Kucha Bedford, Vol 1. produced by Kayte Pippett for Bedford Creative Arts.
Pecha Kucha is a place to talk about your passions. The presentation format is 20 slides x 20 seconds. The GO button is pressed, the pictures start rolling and so do you. There is an audience in the room and online. What is recorded at the event is later published on the Pecha Kucha website to the Pecha Kucha community. Events now take place in over 700 cities globally including Bedford, UK. Preparing and presenting Pecha Kucha is a great discipline. Creating a presentation to the restricted format is a great lesson in self- editing.
Mid-2013 Sandra Dartnell discovered @CreativeBeds. Creative Bedfordshire is a great monthly meeting of creative minds. Events are delivered by Bedford Creative Arts and supported by Bedford Borough Council and Central Bedfordshire Council .
"I’m so impressed to discover some of the design led businesses, creative enterprises and community projects that have taken place in Bedford as a result of the passion, hard work and ability of the some talented locals – they are either leaders or regulars at CreativeBeds. They make Bedfordshire a friendly, supportive, vibrant place to be inspired and to grow your own creative business." Sandra Dartnell (2013)
